About Us
Strengthening electoral integrity is fundamental to the consolidation of democracy, as well as the promotion of peace, security, and national stability.
The African Electoral Integrity Initiative (AE2I) is a non-profit, non-partisan, and non-religious organization dedicated to enhancing the transparency, credibility, and accountability of electoral processes across Africa.
Electoral integrity remains a critical pillar of free, fair, and credible elections, as it ensures that electoral outcomes genuinely reflect the will of the people and uphold democratic principles.
In many African contexts, elections are frequently perceived as high-stakes contests linked to power and economic advantage. This perception has contributed to challenges such as vote buying, ballot box snatching, result manipulation, theft of electoral materials, bribery, and incidents of over-voting. These practices undermine public trust, weaken democratic institutions, and threaten the legitimacy of electoral processes
