About Us
African Electoral Integrity Initiative (AE2i)
Who we are
The African Electoral Integrity Initiative (AE2I) is a non-profit, non-partisan, non-religious organization committed to making African electoral process more transparent and credible.
Electoral Integrity is an essential part of a free, fair, and reliable election.
African elections have often been treated as a “do or die” affair as they are viewed as a pathway to wealth and power. These elections are therefore fraught with vote buying, ballot box snatching, forgery of collated results, theft of electoral materials, bribery and over voting.
Poorly conducted elections can be catastrophic to any civic setting; therefore, conducting free, fair and credible elections is critical to the peace and development of a society.

What We Do
Sensitizing stakeholders on the need to sustain the integrity of our Elections in Africa and also restoring voter confidence in the integrity of the stakeholders and officials, voting procedures and materials used in the election.
Capacity Building and Education
Training and educating the election management Board, the political parties, civil society, voters, the media and other stakeholders to prompt public trust.
A lack of visible professionalism in electoral management, on the other hand, will lead to public suspicion of inaccurate and perhaps fraudulent activity.
Voter Education
Voter education provides potential voters with the necessary information to make an informed choice in the voting booth. Election management bodies (EMBs) typically conduct voter education through televised messages, in addition to using radio and print.
Elections cannot be genuinely democratic unless voters understand the differences among the contestants so that they can cast an informed vote.
Voters must also understand how to vote on election day, or risk missing the opportunity, having their ballot disqualified for being improperly marked, or facing another issue that restricts or eliminates their ability to participate.
Electoral Policy Oversight
Election policy is a reflection of the Social and Political Context of each country.
Policy is an important factor when it comes to developing the legislative and regulative framework for elections as well as ensuring an adequate allocation of funding for election administration.
Protecting election integrity usually includes:
- Draft electoral legislation protective of election integrity.
- Provides oversight to ensure the integrity mechanisms function correctly.
- Adopt policies that protect election integrity.
- Stakeholders inclusion and collaboration.
